Capability 07 of 07
Feasibility, Cost & Permit Strategy
Whether to proceed, what the project may involve and roughly cost, and which approval path may apply — before full design.
What this capability addresses
The question before the work
The questions that decide whether a project should proceed before money is spent on full design: what the concept may involve, how it compares with known requirements and constructability considerations, what it may roughly cost, and which approvals it is likely to need, in what sequence, from which agencies. SOHOXBUILT organizes and analyzes these from available records and information, states the assumptions and names the unknowns, so an owner can decide with open eyes.
Start here when the first question is whether to proceed, what the project may involve or cost, and what approval path may apply.
Once the project type is clear, the work continues under the matching capability →
Problems and project types you may bring
- Checking a redevelopment, addition or conversion idea before committing capital
- Order-of-magnitude budgets and phasing
- Mapping the likely permit path for a project
- Planning, zoning, variance, conditional-use and design-review questions
- Organizing permit submissions with the licensed professionals whose stamps are required
- A permit that has stalled on comments or missing information
Services and coordination available
What is available now
Each engagement is defined around the project. Not every service applies to every inquiry, and the scope names which do.
Preliminary feasibility
Review of the concept against known requirements, available records and constructability considerations, with assumptions, identified unknowns and items needing professional confirmation stated — and a proceed, revise or investigate-further framework tied to the assumptions it depends on.
Cost and scope framing
Scope definition, an order-of-magnitude (ROM) cost range, the cost drivers behind it and phasing. Planning-level cost analysis is not a contractor bid, quote or guaranteed construction price.
Permit strategy
The likely permit path — which approvals, in what order, from which agencies — with submission requirements organized, applications coordinated where included, and agency comments tracked.
Onward coordination
Where a project requires surveyors, engineers, architects, contractors or other specialists, SOHOXBUILT can coordinate the appropriate parties and agency processes. Third-party professional and contractor services are separately scoped and priced unless the project proposal expressly states otherwise.
What you may receive
Depending on the agreed scope, a Feasibility, Cost & Permit Strategy engagement may produce:
- Feasibility memo
- Assumptions register
- ROM budget or cost range
- Cost-driver matrix
- Permit-path matrix
- Agency and submission matrix
- Preliminary sequence and timeline
- Risk register
- Proceed / revise / investigate-further decision framework
Professional, survey and approval boundaries
Which approvals apply depends on the property, the jurisdiction and the scope; identifying them is part of the work. Feasibility findings rest on the information available and the assumptions stated, and are not a final code determination. Stamped drawings and reports are provided by licensed professionals, and approvals, interpretations and review timelines belong to the reviewing agency. SOHOXBUILT maps and coordinates the path; it does not promise an approval, an agency interpretation or a review timeline.

Feasibility, Cost & Permit Strategy
Start a ProjectDrawings, surveys and agency correspondence may be requested later through an agreed receipt process. Please do not send sensitive documents with your initial inquiry.
Initial inquiries are reviewed and answered personally. The initial Fit Review determines project suitability and is not itself an engineering assessment. Substantive analysis begins after the scope and engagement are agreed. Sending an inquiry does not create an engagement; that begins only with a signed scope.
